Today is an unnerving day indeed.. My neighbor has had a serious system malfunction on his computer and now it's sitting in the corner of my geek-den waiting for my love. He has a 120gb drive split into two partitions. The first is 40gb's and contains system and program files. The second is 80gb's and contains all personal folders. The 80gb drive is DEAD! This is indeed a bad thing. Worst yet, all our studio recordings (we jam) are/were on that drive! Obviously irreplaceable..
So, my challenge today is to somehow retrieve all the corrupted data. I started by doing some searches via google on data recovery software. After realizing that there isn't much in the way of free software, I hit up Kazaa for something kinda almost 'free'. I ended up with what appears to be quite a nice and complete suite called 'Ontrack Easy Recovery Pro'. Hopefully it does the trick.. I'll post again once I have an idea what I'm up against...
